In my case, they pegged me for a milk-and-one-sugar kind of gal, which I am not. But perhaps my choice of Lionel Ritchie mug made them think I was a bigger softie than I am. Hello?
If you are an avid reader, be sure to check out Buzzfeed.com’s “16 Charming Bookshops in the UK Everyone Must Visit.”
We used to live next door to Armchair Books in Edinburgh, a lovely little store which is #3 on the list.
“You could easily lose a weekend while nosing about the dreamy Armchair Books. Delve into stacks and stacks of inviting tomes at this Edinburgh institution. If you’re still on the fence, Armchair Books are also great value on Twitter. Plus their logo is a dinosaur reading!”
While Americans are paying top dollar to buy a Minion or Joker costume this year, the Brits are having a ball dressing up as alcoholic beverages, TV presenters and, of course, Tardis.
Take a look at Buzzfeed.com’s countdown of 21 brilliantly British Halloween costumes.
As for me? I’m going as Wenda or Wilma, the Girl Friday to Where’s Waldo? or Where’s Wally? (which varies, depending on where you live!) Have a happy Halloween!
I’m kind of loving Buzzfeed.com’s genius compilation of pie charts. For example, this:
I really am British at heart. Sigh.
For Waitrose fans and foes alike, this might bring a smile: Buzzfeed.com’s collection of 26 times that Waitrose outright ruined the lives of decent people. I love these #firstworldproblems. My favorite is #4.
And for the record, my #firstworldproblem with Waitrose would be the following: “I’m looking for eggs. Just eggs. How am I supposed to know what to pick?” Check out the Waitrose egg selection. When was the last time you found “Clarence Court Old Cotswald Legbar mixed weight British free range eggs” in the supermarket?
Thanks to my friend Tory, who lives where the “really cold oil rig workers live,” I have Buzzfeed’s definitive stereotype map of Britain and Ireland! Enjoy!
Well, first of all, apologies for the radio silence! I have been super busy at work and juggling the being a present parent thing and trying to keep the laundry done and the dishes washed and so on and so on, all while keeping up with watching the latest episode of “Girls.” It’s a struggle, let me tell you!
Anyway, I’m back on board and wanted to share this Buzzfeed quiz, assessing one’s ability to take the Underground like a Londoner. Go on and take it and let me know how you do!
I was very proud to have achieved “Tube Pro” status. “You’re either a Londoner, or just a great human being. You have a healthy regard for personal space, but also the patience that comes with travelling long distances underground. Well done you.” *sigh*
I’ll tell you once a London Undergrounder, always a London Undergrounder! It’s still in my blood so many years later! (But thankfully my nose is clear and not packed with black soot like it used to be from my daily commute!)
Lest anyone think that Buzzfeed is only good for useless round-ups of top 10 tips and stuff like this, check out this prehistoric forest that has been uncovered on a beach in Wales following all of the storms and gale force winds that have stripped away the sand. These photos were posted to Buzzfeed.
These are ancient oak trees that date back to the Bronze age, between 5,500 and 3,500 years ago.
And I would never have known about this without Buzzfeed!
I love Buzzfeed’s 11 Emotionally Repressed Valentine’s Cards For British People. I only wish they sold these to purchase!
Love Buzzfeed.com’s “How British are you?” quiz and really chuffed that I ended up with “As British as Stephen Fry walking a corgi outside Buckingham Palace.”
You’re awkward. You’re easily embarrassed. You’re sickeningly polite. You’re as British as they come!
How about you? Take the quiz and post your status!
