The cronut spawns in London
The new trend for cross-breeding pastries has reached London. From the Townie (a brownie-slash-tart) to the Dosant (half doughnut, half croissant) and the Duffin (a doughnut/muffin fusion), these hybrid sweets are going down a treat.
And so begins this utterly delightful and mouthwatering read on BBC.co.uk. Have you tried any of these? They’ve arrived in the U.K. and sound amazing (I do have a sweet tooth!)

A new YouGov survey has revealed the 13 things that the British public fear the most, with fear of heights, fear of snakes and fear of public speaking in the top 3. Read the full list.
But I particularly like Huffington Post’s comedic take of this. “That someone will push in front of us in a queue” ranked #1, with “That someone will go in for a second kiss on the other cheek” at #2 and “That Stephen Fry may be wrong about something” at #3. Read their full list.

Dan Croll and “Home”
On “All Things Considered” yesterday, NPR featured British singer-songwriter Dan Croll, a native Stoke-on-Trent resident who has since made himself home in Liverpool. After returning home to see his family in Stoke-on-Trent, he wrote this lovely song “Home,” which just oozes comfy, warm loveliness.

Brits love their tea towels. I’ve blogged about it before.
But now, a British company has given tea towels the radical treatment, featuring tea towels for feminists, vegetarians, liberals and activists. It’s enough to inspire me to put aside that Trader Joe’s pancake mix and go rogue with some pancake designs (but I suspect the execution will be shoddy …). Happy pancake making!

4.1 earthquake in Devon?!
The British Geological Survey (BGS) is reporting that an earthquake measuring 4.1 hit Devon at 1:21 p.m. BST today.
Tremors were felt in areas including Dartmoor, Bristol, Taunton, Swansea, Llanelli, Barnstable, Gloucester and South Molton.
