Classical music piece enhances Roald Dahl’s ‘Dirty Beasts’

Interesting story on NPR yesterday — although children’s author Roald Dahl died nearly 25 years ago, he continues to inspire musical adaptations of his work.

The 28 poshest things that have ever happened

These bloody good blokes enjoying a day at the races

Americans may have “fancy,” but Brits have “posh” and posh beats fancy hands down. For proof, check out Buzzfeed’s amazing collection: “The 28 poshest things that have ever happened.”

The list includes names like Biggles George Fittleworth and seasonal goose eggs, croquet and men in red pants.

If you aren’t sure what posh actually means in the U.K., this will settle it for you for sure! Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Paddington Bear’s “Singing in the Rain”

At long last, after a record drought in Sacramento, we’re finally getting some rain.

Not rain like the U.K. has gotten rain all winter long, mind you, but at least it’s a start. And on that note, Ruby posted this delightful video of Paddington Bear “Singing in the Rain,” following my post last week about Gap’s Paddington Bear line. Enjoy!

Red Bull’s office gives employees wings

Check out Red Bull’s London headquarters, which has been recently refurbished. New offices comprise the top three floors of an existing 19th century building – including a rooftop extension. The top floor also includes a main reception, bar, café, and both informal and formal meeting areas. Looks like a pretty cool place to work!

Brits and New Year’s resolutions

89 percent of Brits have resolved to eat better in 2014.

89 percent of Brits have resolved to eat better in 2014.

What were the most popular New Year’s resolutions for Brits in 2014? A UK survey asked Brits this question and the results were as follows:

* 91% resolved to do more exercise
* 89% wanted to eat better
* 87% said they wanted to consume less alcohol
* 79% said they wanted to spend less money this year
* 11% said they want to stop smoking
* 4% want to learn how to play a musical instrument

How about you? What are your New Year’s resolutions and how have you done so far? I actually didn’t make any resolutions this year – and apparently I’m not alone. A CBS news poll found that 68 percent of Americans don’t do resolutions!
