Marks & Spencer’s Christmas advert
Following my post yesterday about John Lewis’s Christmas advert, I present an alternative take on the Christmas advert with Marks & Spencer‘s latest.
What do you think? I wanted to hate it. I thought I would hate it … this picture of white privilege (and I’m talking about Santa here, as well as the family portrayed), but I didn’t actually hate it at all. It actually brought slight tears to my eyes (and maybe it’s the result of the past week and just feeling battered down in Trump’s America that the slightest glimmer of hope sleekly packaged in a holiday commercial is enough to bring on the feels … esp. a commercial with a kid with hair as teasibly long as his is and with a sister who looks like a real, un-Photoshopped pre-teen girl.
Oh yes, and I should also share that someone has made a political parody of the John Lewis advert, featuring Hillary, Obama and Trump this week.
