Bloomingdale’s is puttin’ on the Brits
Bloomingdale’s is showing the Brits some love this month with a section on their website called “Puttin’ on the Brits.” They’re currently featuring more than 40 British brands, 14 pop-up shops, 60 in-store events and more!
The joy of Ikea
How was your three-day weekend (for the Americans in the room)? If your weekend was anything like mine, it was over much too quickly!
Yesterday we went to Ikea, which was busy busy busy with a good international crowd. It seemed like no matter which direction we turned, there was someone speaking a different language – all united by one Swedish furniture store.
I couldn’t help but notice the international flavor of the prints on display, as well. London, as well as Paris and New York City, were showcased in a big way:
We didn’t buy any new prints on this shopping trip, but we did get a new mattress, some espresso cups, a kids’ rug, some of these and a few other small bits and bobs. One thing to note: Ikea has discontinued its offer of 1% off your next order when paying with a debit card! (I wish we had known about this before we finished checking out…)
J. Crew adds new London stores
Look out! J.Crew is hitting the U.K. hard this fall, with plans to open three new stores in London.
* A men’s boutique will be unveiled Oct. 10 in a 19th Century townhouse on Lambs Conduit Street in Bloomsbury.
* A women’s J.Crew shop will open in Brompton Cross in West London in early November. This store will feature the pricier J.Crew Collection line as well as some of its partner brands like Comme des Garçons and Penelope Chilvers.
* A J.Crew store on Regent Street is also already in the works, with plans to open in November.
These stores are the first J.Crew locations outside North America!
Percy Pig turns 21
Percy Pig turns 21 this year! If you’ve never had a Percy Pig gummy sweet from Marks & Spencer, you don’t know what you’re missing! I like to think of myself as a gummy connoisseur and Percy Pig puts every Haribo and Trolli sweet to shame.
Read more on how Percy became the sweets dynamo that it is today. And order some Percy Pig paraphernalia from Marks & Spencer online!
Happy birthday, Percy! And have a happy weekend!
British fashion featured on Goop.com
Stylist Elizabeth Saltzman has rounded up some lovely British designers and fashions this week in Goop.com, Gwyneth Paltrow’s digital media and e-commerce brand. She’s pulled together a range of looks from designers like Stella McCartney, Victoria Beckham and Antonio Berardi.
My favorite pieces of the bunch are these soft pastels, perfect for dressing up and for more relaxed weekend fun.
