Counting with Benedict Cumberbatch
OMG. Benedict Cumberbatch was on “Sesame Street” this week! So cute! And check out Murray-arty, his arch nemesis!
Anna Kendrick’s Newcastle Brown Ale ad
Our house is an American football-free zone, but every year, there is the slightest whiff of interest in the Super Bowl ads.
Love Anna Kendrick and love her non-Superbowl Newcastle Brown Ale commercial, which exemplifies the no-bollocks brand. If you haven’t seen it, check it out! And have a happy Super Bowl Sunday!
“Sherlock” Season 3 – The Musical
I’ve made no secret of my adoration for the BBC show “Sherlock.” If you haven’t seen it yet, what are you waiting for?!
In the meantime, for those who are caught up with Season 3, here’s a musical spoof that’s pretty spot on! (There are some *spoiler alerts* if you haven’t caught up, so watch at your own peril…)
Sherlock at the Golden Globes
For four months now, we’ve been blissfully without our cable TV. Who needs it?! Not me. But rarely, very rarely, there are those nagging moments in life where I do miss it – and Sunday was one of those days when I realized that the Golden Globes were on and I couldn’t just watch.
As it turned out, most of the highlights were online anyway, and I’ve flipped through plenty of red carpet fashion from the night and watched every bizarre speech. The best picture I’ve seen is the one above – Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Fassbender just grooving at the Golden Globes.
Which reminds me – I’ve got to go catch up on watching “Sherlock.” I’ve just started watching the third season and am hooked. Now I am going back to the first season to watch from the beginning. If you haven’t seen “Sherlock” yet, it’s on Netflix and Hulu and is well worth a watch!
Get ready for “Downton Abbey”
Get ready for it … the fourth season of “Downton Abbey” starts Sunday on PBS.
Perfect time to catch up on the “emotional rollercoaster that is Downton Abbey” as told by Buzzfeed.com. Enjoy and have a good weekend!
John Lewis’ 2013 Christmas advert
Wow. It’s not even December yet, but John Lewis has unveiled its 2013 Christmas advert – this time, an animated tale about a hare and a bear.
I’ve blogged before about how much I adore their annual holiday adverts and I do like the heart of it and Lily Allen’s cover of Keane’s “Somewhere Only We Know.” (We bought it on iTunes last week and it’s been on perpetual repeat ever since!)
What do you think? Yay or nay? I’m finding it hard for any Christmas advert to live up to the sheer Christmas magic and Britishness of this one.
Lego: Let’s Build advert
This sweet holiday advert for Lego has pleasantly reminded me that the holiday advert season is beginning in the U.K. I can’t wait to see what some of my favorite British brands have up their sleeves this year!
The second season of “The Chase” airs
So I missed all news about “The Chase” when it premiered for the first time in the U.S. in August.
Now the Game Show Network is airing Season Two tomorrow at 8 p.m. Based on a British quiz show, contestants must go head to head against “The Beast,” AKA Mark Labbett, a British trivia quiz master genius with an IQ of 150. The previews are pretty convincing.
“Downton Abbey” cast has been Simpsonized
Adrien Noterdaem has Simpsonized the full cast of “Downton Abbey.” Check it out here!
(And if you keep scrolling, you’ll see the Simpsonized versions of characters from “The Wire,” “Sons of Anarchy,” “Luther” and more!)
